Summer Camp Full Day Program

Long Island Rowing offers a full day camp program throughout the summer for youths in 7th – 12th grade.

There are 10 weekly sessions over the summer and a rower can sign up for one, two or any number of sessions that are convenient for the family summer schedule.

Experienced coaches are on hand to coach both experienced Junior rowers who wish to maintain their spring training regiment and improve their rowing skills and for young people who have never rowed before and wish to try the sport.

The experienced rower will receive a combination of dry-land and on-water training designed to improve their conditioning and rowing skills in prepartinon for the fall racing season. In the summer we focus on developing rower skills in smaller boats (singles, doubles and pairs) to improve overall balance which is immediatley transferred to the larger boats when rowers return to their fall rowing season.

Select members of the Long Island Junior competitive team will be racing throughout the summer so rowers participating in this program may join our athletes and participate in the summer series of Regattas. August 2 - August 7 - St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada

Our youth Learn-to-Row program is an opportunity for a child to learn the sport of rowing through participation. While the majority of time is spent on the water, there is also dry land training and education about boats and equipment. Some impromptu racing and stops at the bakery for treats may occur. After the completion of a full week/full day session, a rower will have learned the basics of rowing and what it takes to be a competitive rower. Thereafter a rower may continue on with full day sessions or move on to our half day summer session.
