Summer Adult Learn-To-Row Program - Group Lesson

Long Island Rowing offers adult Learn-to-Row programs in both sculling (singles) and sweep boats (4’s and 8’s).

Both Learn-to-Row programs begin on land where rowers are taught the concepts of rowing, safety procedures and how to row on ERG (rowing) machines to develop proper rowing form. You will then progress to on-water training where you will apply the skills learned on land in the boat.

Singles rowers will begin in training singles whose stability allows them to concentrate on technique over balance. Once you develop your rowing technique your will progress to racing singles where balance and technique become the focus.

Sweep rowers will follow the same progression however after land orientation they move directly to either 4’s and/or 8’s depending on the number of participants per session.

All rowers are accompanied by an experienced coach in a coach launch boat fully equipped with all the necessary safety equipment.

We welcome adult rowers of all ages, shapes, sizes and skill levels.
